Ian and Tracey Davie
Ian and Tracey Davie live with their 4 children in a farmhouse, at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The site at Brin Y Gwin is nestled in the foothills of Cader Idris, Wales' 3rd highest mountain and enjoys stunning views. It offers a feeling of seclusion but is still close to the market town of Dolgellau. In addition to the 'Woodlanders' courses and herbal walks, it also offers both camping and caravan sites, along with a 1 acre mixed coarse fishery.
From a young age Ian has lead a countryman's life working on a farm, working for the Environment Agency and working as a Gamekeeper on two estates. Ian has a real knowledge and feel for the woodland environment, this coupled with his extensive skills makes him a true woodsman. He has an empathy and understanding of how the British Flora and Fauna interact and work together. As a multi award winning wildlife artist, Ians acclaim is worldwide, his feather paintings and driftwood sculptures need to be seen to be believed. This artistic talent is now brought to bear on some of his instructional courses demonstrating how to create simple but highly effective wood sculptures. Tracking, trapping, foraging and wild fishing are to name but a few of his numerous skills.
Tracey spent three and half years studying to gain a Diploma in Herbal Medicine with Honours and now runs a successful clinic in the Dolgellau area. She also leads informative identification/foraging walks, with the emphasis towards medicinal plants and their uses. She is passionate about her home produce from eggs to honey, vegetables to bread and her onsite woodland cooking is mouthwatering.
